Winter Storm Wesley Video
The nicknamed spring storm "Wesley" produced strong winds, snow and ice that wreaked major havoc on our lines and substations on April 10, 2019.
We had nearly 10,000 members without power and about 600 poles either broken or damaged.
With the help of crews from 24 electric cooperatives, one neighboring municipal and two contractor companies, we had most power outages restored within six days.
Freeborn-Mower Cooperative especially thanks the line workers who worked endless hours as well as all of the employees and their spouses and families for their support and understanding during this storm. Employees spent long hours answering phones, managing crews and keeping the restoration efforts organized and safe.
Thank you to our members who donated food, beverages and words of encouragement. Your kindness and patience was ever so appreciated.
Thank you to our community for the support, it was simply amazing! Restaurants opened up on their closed days and some even paid for our line crews' meals. Local hotels treated our crews with treats, respect and honor.
While storms like this are not ideal, the response from our employees, members and community, shows great concern and cooperation.
