Scholarships for
Minnesota Students Pursuing Careers in
Co-ops
The Edward Slettom
Cooperative Leadership scholarships are
being offered for high school, college,
law and business school students
interested in pursuing careers in
cooperatives.
The awards range from
the following: $500 for high schoolers;
$750 for students at
two or
four year undergraduate
institutions;
and $1,000 for students in
business and law school. The awards are
based on scholastic achievement,
leadership, and an ability to contribute
to cooperatives in the future.

The application
deadline is March 1,
2010.
The awards are based
on scholastic achievement, leadership,
and an ability to contribute to
cooperatives in the future. The
Foundation Vision Statement declares
that, “The Foundation will sponsor
qualified individuals and organizations
to further the goals of cooperatives and
their members.” The Foundation directors
voted to create the new scholarship to
work toward its vision of educating
others about the role of cooperatives in
our communities.
The sponsor
organization for the Foundation is MAC,
which is a trade association that serves
Minnesota’s cooperatives owned by more
than 3.4 million residents by providing
lobbying, education, public relations,
and technical services for a wide
variety of cooperatives including farm
supply, health, dairy marketing,
consumer, credit, livestock marketing,
telephone, electric, housing, insurance,
cable communications, worker-owned
cooperatives, and more.
MAC is
headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota.
